On this day 140 years ago, 3 of the colonies of British North America came together under one title, the Dominion of Canada.

The British Colonies of Canada, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia would later be joined by the colonies of Rupert's Land, North-Western Territory, British Columbia, Vancouver Island, Prince Edward Island, and finally the former Dominion of Newfoundland to form the second largest nation on Earth by area, a dream of the Fathers of Confederation realized. A nation from sea to sea, A Mari Usque Ad Mare.

Happy 140th birthday Canada.

To be a nit, it was really 4 colonies. Seeing as upper and lower Canada were distinctly different entities.
