another stupid 25 50 spot
villian is P2K, and is obviously very good blah ...
what the f is my plan in this hand. i have been playing very snug for a few hours, and P2K knows this, and he probably knows i'm not raising lightly out of the SB with two limpers, so it wouldn't be a stretch for him to put me on exactly the hand i have. rStars Game #12003233598: Hold'em No Limit ($25/$50) - 2007/09/11 - 18:05:17 (ET) Table 'Sculptor V' 9-max Seat #4 is the button Seat 2: tcoach ($7069 in chips) Seat 4: play2kill ($10813 in chips) Seat 5: tsifknits ($7449 in chips) Seat 6: Eeedz ($10288 in chips) Seat 8: captZEEbo ($5222 in chips) Seat 9: H@££INGGOL ($6338 in chips) tsifknits: posts small blind $25 Eeedz: posts big blind $50 *** HOLE CARDS *** Dealt to tsifknits [Ad Ah] captZEEbo: folds H@££INGGOL has timed out H@££INGGOL: folds H@££INGGOL is sitting out tcoach: calls $50 H@££INGGOL has returned play2kill: calls $50 tsifknits: raises $200 to $250 Eeedz: folds tcoach: calls $200 play2kill: calls $200 *** FLOP *** [2s 5c 6h] tsifknits: bets $550 tcoach: folds play2kill: raises $1000 to $1550 ........ check call??? bet call ? his button limp behind range is probably quite wide so i wouldn't discredit 56 and 34, of course not leaving out 22 55 and 66. thanks |

Re: another stupid 25 50 spot
i guess i'm a nit cuz there wasn't a turn. he knows i have a huge pair, the real question is does he expect me to fold it.
i doubt it, but i'm here to learn so again correct me if i'm wrong. so let's say i bet call what's my plan for the turn, check fold facing another bet? i absolutely hate calling a raise with the intention of folding to more heat. |

Re: another stupid 25 50 spot
Another one of those game theory versus practice spots.
Theoretically you definitely can't fold here. In practice I would think a call is actually +EV against very few Stars 25/50 players. |

[/ QUOTE ] If it's +EV I very seriously doubt it's +EV by very much because it's just such a sick spot, but it will jack up your variance hundred-fold which is never a good thing... if you call the flop you pretty much have to go into check-call mode as a good player won't simply go away and will probably continue putting pressure on you, and then you find yourself calling off 150BB's having no clue where you're at on hope... I just don't like it, I'd probably fold. Kirk |

Re: another stupid 25 50 spot
phew .. i was beginning to think i played this too weakly. the problem i have with flat calling and going into check call mode, is that between the times that he three barrels and i muck and the times he actually has a hand this has got to be a losing play.
check calling down a player like this lightly in the hopes that he's bluffing and will slow down and/or doesn't have a real hand just seems awful. |

Re: another stupid 25 50 spot
i think this is very close and the fact that you are out of position makes this a fold, u have no option to control the potsize hes gonna put as much money in as he wants and your hand is as you said face up.

Re: another stupid 25 50 spot
Wow everyone actually folds this?
I dont really play on stars much but 6 handed when you hold the best possible hand you can have on this flop you fold to one raise? It seems weird/wrong. I just can't believe the games are this passive. |

[/ QUOTE ] i totally get what your saying, but what do you want to do, check fold the turn when he bets over 80% of the time? i think this is one of those spots that you can allow yourself to get owned sometimes and chalk it up to position. i dont even think we're great against his range if calling the extra $1000 put us allin so not continuing with money behind cant be that bad. i think we're ahead of his flop raising range here but not enough to keep going oop; i fold. |
