Default $114: Kinda boring hand...optimal play with AQ?

Just a simple question...is a stop & go always better than just overshoving pf?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (5 handed) Hand History converter Courtesy of PokerZion.com

MP (t1805)
Button (t2795)
SB (t2890)
Hero (t1150)
UTG (t4860)

Preflop: Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img].
2 two folds, button raises t400 to t600, Hero?

On second thought I think I like a shove, with your short stack I would rather be flipping or crushing some Ax hand with his entire stack invested so you can double back to 10BBs.

You have 0 FE preflop. You have a bit of FE postflop. So the question is if villian and you miss the flop do you want villian to call your push (because you will never fold a pair or better postflop).

From villians standpoint postflop (when you push), he is going to need to put in 550 chips to win 2400, so he needs 23% equity.

So if you both miss the flop, say 2 4 6 rainbow, he would have 23.2% equity with KJ and 14.3% equity with AJ.

So a lot of times if you both miss the flop it is going to be correct for villian to fold (especially if he could see your cards), because your range will dominate him a ton of the time.

I know that was not explained really well, but I think you acutally want to push preflop because you want his extra 550 chips for the times he misses the flop.

Doesn't really matter but I'd stick it in PF

I actually like the way that it was explained and I enjoyed your reasoning and I completely agree.

And I push here pre-flop for the same reasons stated above. Well said.
