Studying the game
I've seen a lot of posts from people saying their work on their game by studying it as well as playing hands.
What do you do to study the game? Posting/commenting on hands on 2+2 or other forums. Looking through HHs. Looking through Poker Tracker. Reading books. Does anyone do other things to improve their game? |

Re: Studying the game
You missed the most obvious one -- play A LOT. And play against people better than you sometimes. Play at the private 2p2 games too for practice in dealing with stress at the tables & dealing with maniacs. Go play live. It's not the same.
Think about the game during your passive down-times. I've been known to work out EV computations on the shower door and bring a calculator & notepad up to the roof deck with me when it's cocktail time. |

Look through HHs of great players and try to think about their thought process.

Re: Studying the game
I have almost 60,000 hands in PT. Whenever one of my competitors goes over 500 hands, I will spend 10 - 15 minutes and analyze their hands in PT. I then write notes and transfer them to PP so I have them at my finger tips when we play.
I don't seem to have time to do it while multi tabling, so this works for me. I think this helps me in two ways. One, looking at plays from semi experienced players. Two, knowing my competition better. Does anyone else do this? |
