Re: cooler
I believe its when you have a really good hand, but its beaten by someone else who has a super good hand. It usually results in a large loss of money. Something like:
you: JJ villain: 99 board: 29J 95 You got coolered. I believe its also a term for a chronically unlucky guy that casinos used to (or still do) hire to hang around customers who are on a winning streak to adversely effect their luck. Seems superstitious to me for a casino to actually spend money on that but who knows. There's a good movie about one called "the cooler" with bill macy and alec baldwin. |

Re: cooler
[ QUOTE ]
you: JJ villain: 99 board: 29J 95 [/ QUOTE ] This is more a suckout than a cooler. A cooler is when you have a very strong hand, and someone else has an even stronger one.In the example above, the best hand PF and on the flop lost. In a cooler, the best hand wins, but the hand that loses could have expected to win based on its strength. Most common example of a cooler is set over set. you: 99 villain: JJ board: 29J x x You were always behind, and you lost, but you have a great hand that you would expect to win with. |

Re: cooler
the term is now used for everything since they hear it on tv or read it here and use it for just about anything. but its really a monster vs monster hand that you don't play wrong but you just get beat.
boat vs boat set over set K vs A high flush etc... |
