AC This Weekend - Player Asks to See My Hand Every Time I Muck
Playing $1-2 NL at the Borgata this past weekend. I was in multiple heads up pots against a young kid (looked barely 21). At least 3-4 times he made a river bet that I called. When he showed a winner, I mucked, and every time he asked the floor to see my hand - even one time when he stacked me. I understand that he can do that, but isn't that just bad etiquette? These were not multi-way pots so there was no reason to suspect collusion. When I said something about it, he seemed utterly oblivious. Is this common? How should one "educate" this type of player (other than threatening to kick him in the nuts?)

Call the floor or ask the dealer to explain the rule. Thats ridiculous.

Muck the winner and then scoop the pot when he asks. That'll learn 'em.

Or you could just show your cards at showdown and get on with the next hand - it's 1/2 NL fer chrissake, it's not like anyone there is going to file away your tendencies for future reference!

Re: AC This Weekend - Player Asks to See My Hand Every Time I Muck
I couldn't believe they did not have this rule at Harrah's in North KC. I asked the dealer (Stephen) and he didn't even know what the IWTSTH rule was. So then I asked the next dealer, and he said they do not have the rule there. I forget but I don't even know if they allow the winner of the hand to ask to see the mucked cards, but I know for a fact they don't allow anyone else to ask. Very strange. Also, the casinos close there! lol Sorry, Tunica is much better. In fact, I think Tunica is better than AC and right behind Vegas

get mad and say, 'are you accusing me of cheating?'
then when he says no tell him to stop asking to see your [censored] hand. also, stop playing so bad. |

Re: AC This Weekend - Player Asks to See My Hand Every Time I Muck
Asking every time is abusive. You say the floor (not the dealer) allowed it? If it was indeed the floor I'd go speak to a surpervisor and ask him/her to put a stop to it.

Put him to a decision for all of his chips instead of being a girlyman.

Re: AC This Weekend - Player Asks to See My Hand Every Time I Muck
Learn to muck your cards so that they are irretrievable.
This is the best solution b/c the floor will often uphold the IWTSTH rule, and it slows down the game to fight the guy. This really bugs me a lot when someone asks to see my hand. One time I told the table I would eat my cards before I let the dealer flip them over. |
