JJ Overpair Turning Stone Hand(300+40)
Blinds are 50/100 which is the third level. I have 2K chips to begin, down from 2500 to begin with.
My table is ridiculously difficult, I have Plattsburgh to my left, ChipMovrs#1fan to his left, JoeyV869 to his left, a guy who plays 10/20 6M on his left. Several other online pros on the table, and 1-2 older guys who seem like nits. My image should be fairly standard. I've raised maybe 1-2 more pots than most, and Plattsburgh and I played chicken for a few hands back-to-back. I haven't shown down a hand yet. I have JJ in MP. Online pro #1(who just moved to table) raises to 300 in UTG+1, I call(1700 behind now) from MP, and everyone else folds. Flop comes T-8-2 rainbow. He insta-checks(??) I bet 500 into a pot of 650 and he insta-pushes with his chips not even in even stacks, covering me.. I...? |

insta-check like did he look at the flop? was it like, dealer spreads the flop and he checks right away? |

Your line of call preflop, bet a weak board looks a lot like low pair, which leads me to think villain is in a good spot to bluff. You only need to win this hand 23% of the time for it to be +EV. I think I frown and call.

I'm calling here. Having a big stack in this tournament's structure is very very important, and I think he check/pushes a lot of smaller pairs and hands with overs and a straight draw like J9 and QJ.

Re: JJ Overpair Turning Stone Hand(300+40)
Just nitpicking, you bet 500 into a pot of 750 right? So you have 1200 behind and a pot of 2950?
Kind of a crappy structure, which makes me more lean towards a call, but teh quick check and reraise all-in screams TT though. I don't know... Against a good player, even getting 3:1 I still think this is probably a fold as it's impossible for me to see how you are not drawing to two outs. Brad |

Plattsburgh sucks FYI...also I probably would've checked behind, but now given the table I think I pot odds call.

The thing that sucks about it is you can't not bet because you're letting half the deck kill your hand on the turn (T,Q-A). Still, the line is so awkward that I normally check through and look for a safe turn/see villian's action before I toss chips in. In your spot, I guess I have to fold. He's a good player, he knows you're not going to fold anything reasonable getting over 2:1 or whatever it is...bleh...fold...puke... |

[/ QUOTE ] do you really put those hands in a UTG+1 raisers range in this tournament? I don't. My range for him PF was AJs+77+ |
