Default Wireless connection psudo-dies

I have a 6 month old Toshiba laptop running windows vista. I have a RangeMax Wireless router from NetGear. I have never been able to plug the laptop directly into a modem or router with an Ethernet cable, it just won't find the connection (not sure if this is related to my problem or not).

Here's my problem. I browse the net for a while then turn on PokerStars and some streaming music. I play cards and continue to browse occasionally. Then the browser stops finding new pages. I use FF, but once FF dies IE won't work either. The connection must still be good because music and poker keep working. I can fix it by restarting, but that's a pain.

This has been happening pretty much every day lately. Any suggestions would be great. Let me know if more info is required.

One more thing. I was logged into gmail once when i lost my new page opening ability and decided to send a test email to see if gmail was live, it was.
