3/6NL - Loose aggresive frontbets
Today I decided to play standard tight-aggresive (24/18) villian is preety loose so far playing ~50% of hands fighting for most pots but not getting very out of line (eg. 3 barrel bluffing) This is my second orbit in the table so I have no real reads yet.
PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $6 BB (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums) BB ($1320.75) UTG ($585) TalentedTom ($643.90) CO ($389.40) Button ($348.25) SB ($690.55) Preflop: TalentedTom is MP with 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. 1 fold, TalentedTom raises to $18, 2 folds, SB calls $15, BB calls $12. Flop: ($54) J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, BB checks, TalentedTom bets $52, SB calls $52, BB folds. Turn: ($158) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) SB: bets $120 TalentedTom: This was an unusual sutation because most people don't frontbet this big after calling a PSB on the flop. I'm wondering how most people preceive this bet and what they would do? I see people donkbet upfront very often but never a real frontbet. Thoughts? |

J9 or 45 are more likely than a set, I agree with you on frontbets, usually they are a materialized draw or a scared bottom two, or just air, I think you are prolly still ahead and would read the FB as posturing or an improved hand/draw/scared bottom two. It's me gtp by the way Tom.

I would just call in this spot. [/ QUOTE ] Yep, call turn push river if he bets again, otherwise value-bet. |

$350 [/ QUOTE ] Leaving me a little less than $200 behind, so I immagine I blindly push any river here. Does this not give away the strength of my hand - the fact that we are not even thinking about stack sizes and proper leverage, we are just trying to dump as much money into the pot as possible. I would immagine against a thinking player we never get called by a weaker hand here, is this a good result winning $400 pot with little varience or is it worth calling here and taking a shot at winning a bigger pot vs his range? It's possible he frontbets AJ, KJ with the intention of folding to most reraises (this is a common line used by thinking players). I was stuck between push/call. The problem being push has massive fold equity vs his range while call may allow some draws to get there (which will happen a relativley small % of the time anyway) it will make me additional money against top pair type hands or if he's bluffing he may be inclined to fire a second barrel (which I mentioned I have yet to see, but I suspect he is more than capable of this) |

I generally push in this spot.
