Songs that the top four NEED to sing
We don't have to waste any breath on kiki and chris, as they're going home.
Phil: Don't Stop Believing, Journey I'm actually getting goosebumps thinking about him singing this song. Melinda: Proud Mary If she breaks this out, gg everybody. I got nothing for Blake and Jordin. Does anyone know if there are certain songs they can and cannot sing because of royalties or whatever? If Melinda doesn't sing Proud Mary and she could, she should be shot.

[/ QUOTE ] this is a bit of pandering, no? why proud mary? if you just want her to belt out a motown classic, i'm certain you will get your wish between now and end of season. however, i don't think proud mary is anything that has not been said and done in every talent show by every black female since the song was written. i'd rather hear her do some annie lennox than some stereotypical black song.

[/ QUOTE ] Well, I'd like to see her do Proud Mary because she always seems close to breaking out a Tina Turner vibe but never seems to go the whole way with it. And yeah, a lot of black women would like to/do sing Proud Mary, but they wouldn't be able to pull it off half as well as Melinda. Melinda's Proud Mary would be much better than LaKisha's or Jordin's, and not just because she's a better singer. I'm usually sort of bored by Melinda, but I really liked what she did with the Bon Jovi song. I'd like to hear her do more stuff along that sort of line. Sing something a little bluesy, a little rough. But I'm sure next week she'll do some random song I've never heard of and she'll sing it with boring excellence. I'd like to see her reach a little bit, even if she misses. Maybe even particularly if she misses a little bit.

Unless you're talking about the scary kind, he does look like a vampire. [ QUOTE ] I got nothing for Blake and Jordin. [/ QUOTE ] I think Blake should sing Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol or maybe Such Great Heights by Postal Service. Can't think of a great song for Jordin, but it needs to be a ballad where she stands still and just belts out big notes. Every time she tries to move while she sings it's a trainwreck. I'd say Somewhere Over the Rainbow would be perfect for Jordin if McPhee didn't already do it last year (twice).

Jordin - I will always love you by Whitney Houston
Kiki - Not sure Melinda - Any song is fine, maybe something we've heard of? Blake - Lot of fun choices for him. Such Great Heights was a good one. Also he could pick some contemporary R&B song and knock it out of the park. Chris R - HOW COULD YOU NOT DO DICK IN A BOX? AMERICA NEEDED THIS FROM YOU.
