Lounge Writing Workshop/Short-Story Contest WITH PRIZE!
Hi all,
The Lounge will be holding a short story workshop for two-weeks followed by a week long contest for best short story. Submission of a story for the contest is NOT limited to workshop participants. Readers will vote by poll or secret/public vote (to be determined) at the end of week three. We have at least one sponsor will to put up $150 as the prize for the winner, and it may be more if any more sponsorship is forthcoming. So, winner receives a cash prize of $150.00+! ------------------------------------------------------------ PLEASE NOTE: this is not endorsed or supported directly by 2+2 as a site, and should be considered a private contest among posters. ----------------------------------------------------------- Story requirements are as follows: Fiction of 1,000-7,500 words. Proofed for grammar, punctuation and spelling. If you are interested in participating in the writing group, submitting a story for the contest, please go right ahead. If anyone wants to add to the sponsorship pool, PM me. Please note I am intending to keep all sponsorship confidential, unless the sponsor is happy for it to be public either as it runs or at the end. The Writing Workshop begins tomorrow (23rd March), and I will create a thread for this. Any questions, sign ups, or issues, ask here. Carter

I think participants should send you their story, than you post it in The Lounge anonymously. That way, we aren't clouded by who wrote the story when we vote for the best. After the contest, the names of who wrote what will be posted.

[/ QUOTE ] I really like that idea Dom. I also think the contest thread should be locked with only DB posting the entries in it.

Another way of doing it is any participants who want to remain anon just do it under a ginmick. The real account can reveal afterwards.
Howver, it's my belief little details like this are okay if voluntary but create a small barrier to entry if mandatory. I'd rather it stay as smple as possible..

[/ QUOTE ] my suggestion: whoever wants to enter PMs a story to DB. DB posts it anonymously in a locked thread that is only for stories. Another "story discussion" thread is started where we can all talk about the stories. After the two weeks or whatever the announced time limit is, a vote is taken and DB posts the results along with all the author's identities.
