will this have any effect on etrade savings account, like possibly forcing them to lower rates?

I would guess no effect. If anything it would probably be similar to Countrywide where they'd offer a higher promo rate on their savings accounts to attract new money.

Here I sit with money in both CW and ET..........i think they may lower their rates when the FED lowers the rate this week.
