Check throuh afterI spike TP?
Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is CO with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]
UTG folds, Hero raises, 2 folds, BB calls. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4.6SB, 2 players) BB checks, Hero bets, BB calls. Turn: A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] BB checks, ... Does anyone ever check through here? It is a really intersting Idea I had today. I think I like it. |

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
Given you have the Kd, and you're going to raise the river, it's not that bad cause you'll get a lot of hopeless bluffs from hands that would fold the turn.

I like it as long as you raise any river

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
It's ok to do sometimes but I don't like giving up value vs. pair+diamond hands that might checkcall river or not pay off river raise. Not to mention if he paired ace but doens't have diamond to pay off if you hit flush on river.
I guess I lean more towards bet here. |

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
oh yeah, the player is "TAG" but not very good at all. actualy, probably break even, or slight loser.
my thinking.. he will bluff a ton on the river. he will also "value bet" 2nd best hands, like any ace, often a queen, and often any diamond. There is also some chance that I am behind now, to aces up, a set a flush, or some weird two pair. while the chances of these isnt that big, it is still important IMO. also, if i do raise the river, people hate to bet fold, and will call with utter garbage cus i played the hand so wierdly... plus, if villain has a strong hand, like AQ where he is going for a checkraise, i have to call the checkraise, and probably call the river too. this costs me 3 bets. where if i check turn, and raise the river, many many villains will not 3ball the river with 2 pair, so this saves a bet there too. |

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
the guy would have to be nuts to bluff on the river when you check behind here. if you have nothing, how often do you check behind this turn? i'd guess not very often

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
the guy is bad. people love to donk bluff river after you checked through on the turn.
if i have nothing, then i am betting this turn near 100% of the time. but he doesnt know this, and people suck at poker. |

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
What if he has an ace and you miss a bet when the diamond hits? What if he has something like JT or J9 and check/folds a blank river? It's a somewhat interesting idea, but I can't imagine it being profitable in the long term.

Re: Check throuh afterI spike TP?
I think it's a fine line to mix it up with against more observant players once in a while. That said, I think betting is still decidedly better as a default play.
If your opponent will really bluff bet anything on the river if you check through, then it's also ok, but I don't believe that is very common. |
