Default OT: First time I get really pist at casino (long)

I went to my local casino today which offers 25 dollar NL tournaments and it attracts some of the worst players in the history of poker. Usually around 70 players enter the tournament. Start with 5000 chips blinds 100/200 blinds go up every 10 or 15 minutes. So today I went and everything was fine and dandy til this hand came up….
.
With about 64 players still left (6th pays)
9 players full table
UTG+1 (700) goes all in for 700 chips (just lost his stack last hand)
SB (4500) Calls 700
I am on the big blind with QQ (5400). I announce that I am going to raise (I was planning on raising it 1000-1400 more).

Then the SB gets extremely pist and gets ready to fold his hand before I announce the exact amount I am going to raise. He announces that I am a “jackass” out loud. Apparently the reason he is so pist off is because I eliminated him from the hand and he could potentially eliminate a player. After calling me a name, the guy next to him (on dealer button who is his friend) says that I do not understand why I should not be re-raising the SB out of hand.

I am only 18, pretty tall 6’1 but kind of skinny and the SB is like a body builder. The best image I can paint for you is in the movie fantastic 4 he is like the rock guy (really strong buff guy). He also kind of looks like the thinner version of butter bean the boxer.

After he called me a jackass out loud in a demeaning tone. I say “dealer can you tell him to watch his language” (not that it bothers me, but just to get back at him). The guy then goes “What the hells wrong with you, there’s a elementary kiddie school down the street, learn how to play poker blah blah” . I say something like “I’ve made more playing online then blah blah” he goes “yeah sure, okay," and is just acting like a completely out of line. At this point I am just really pist off.

The board comes akj46 rainbow
The UTG+1 short stack had k9 and he scooped the pot.

I then am still pretty pist over SB and how rude he is, and that I am getting blamed for making a reasonable play. I then say “hey by the way where is that elementary school” he then replies “o so now you are being a smart ass, you need to f-#-c-king something??... blah blah ….hows that for watch my language”. The dealer then warns the man to stop.

For the next 20 hands I am just steamed I realize all that I can focus on is how much I hate this guy but I go out of way to try and not tilt. I keep folding and folding and folding. I was thinking about returning some comments, but then I envisioned myself getting a black eye. The guy had a beer (so I assumed he was a little bit drunk), and I could tell if he were to take a swing at me I would be in the hospital or cemetery. So I bite my tongue the whole time and keep folding and folding my long string of crap hands.

Now later on the SB gets all of his money in on QK vs JJ and I tell him gl because I am trying to be the better man in this ordeal. Since, I took the first step in amending the relationship he then tells to me privately that he apologizes. I then said my logic was that since it was not the final table or close to pay outs (there were plenty of players left there was no reason to worry about eliminating another player). Yet, the guy gave me an example of why I should of checked because one time he was at the FINAL TABLE and someone bluffed into a dry side pot etc. So at this point I realize he does not understand and that he is arrogant and still an ass for what he did.

I paid money for the tournament I should be able to play the cards however the hell I want. Why everyone at my table acting like my play was was unreasonable. Those casino players are all a bunch of result oriented donkeys that piss me off. End of story just venting.

Simple solution, don't play there anymore or post this in BBV forum above.

The fact that he thought it was incorrect for you to raise in the first place should have clued you in about his general knowledge of the game.

There is ZERO point to trying to explain to him why you did what you did.
He will not get it.

Just play your cards and act like YOU are the donkey.
When he acts like you should have not raised at all then just act like you don't know what the hell he's talking about.

These are arguments that you CANNOT win.
And such arguments will probably come up again at some point if you continue playing.

When he calls you a 'jackass' just be friendly and smile and play your cards. You just don't need to justify your play and your insistence on doing so (over and over it seemed) only serves to fan the flames.

Finally, you getting steamed was probably noticed by your opponents at the table. This is probably a big disadvantage to you.

Generally when people try to play the role of 'table coach' or 'preflop hand police' I just let them since arguing is only going to get them angry. I'd rather just let him rant and rave about your play then tell him why to be quiet. Obviously you did nothing wrong, and I think since he is such a danger to you just keeping quiet is probably the best idea.

You're going to get called a jackass a lot more as you play. People at the poker table get PO'd over sometimes the silliest of things. Eventually you'll get used to it and the little fury you feel within to reply will change to humor. I enjoy being called a donkey nowadays (not that I won't listen to someone's advice on how I coulda played better). Just agree with them and if you're feeling frisky and the other guy ain't twice your size maybe let out a little donkey bray. You'll entertain the table and totally come across as the better person and leave the person spitting vile looking like the real jackass.

I try not to give free lessons at the table, just smile and nod your head. I would hate to somehow educate someone I am playing against. Its better to just let the fishies swim free.

You overracted to the situation and made it worse for yourself. If you had just ignored him from the start of the situation it never would have escalated to where it did.

I've seen people berrated for this type of play, but in the end, there is nothing that anyone but you can do about it. If you think it was a good play, you don't need to justify it, let him think you are a donkey and bust him later.
