What car should I get? And from dealer or private
OK,
looking to spend 10-15K, dont mind how old it is, but dont want it to need too much service. I want leather seats. The car would mainly be used for 1 or 2 people, but I would like the option of it taking more. I will initially be using it in Chicago, but I might then move elsewhere, perhaps to San Fransisco, so I would like it to be a convertible too. I would like it to look nice, but not too flashy. Should I get it from a dealership or privately? Are there any national brands of dealerships so that it I get it in Chicago and have problems with it in San Fran I can get help? How difficult will it be for me to get a manual car? Thanks, Dean |

Re: What car should I get? And from dealer or private
Basically all dealerships are national unless they are used car only. I'd suggest going around to all of the dealerships in your area and seeing what they have on the used car lot. It shouldn't be a problem to get a standard.

Re: What car should I get? And from dealer or private
Yes I would be looking to get a used car. How does it work in the US. Like, say I decided to get a Saab 900. Would I just google for Saab dealerships in Chicago, give them a phone call and see if they have any used Saab 900s? And then if I had a problem in San Fran, just go to a Saab dealership?
Thanks, Dean |

Basically yes. You can get a Saab repaired at any Saab dealership. At least this is how it works for GM so I would assume Saab would be the same. You could ask to make sure but I would be shocked if they didn't.
