Is this river push as bad as I think it is?
CO is 30/14 and has gone to showdown 29% after 80hands
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ Hero (6 max, 6 handed) converter CO ($32.80) Button ($25.25) SB ($35.15) Hero ($25) UTG ($123.40) MP ($29.35) Preflop: Hero is BB with T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10. UTG calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, CO calls $0.25, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, SB (poster) completes, Hero checks. Flop: ($1) 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(4 players)</font> SB checks, <font color="#CC3333">Hero bets $1</font>, UTG folds, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises to $3</font>, SB folds, Hero calls $2. Turn: ($7) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> Hero checks, <font color="#CC3333">CO bets $3</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises to $6</font>, CO calls $3. I wasn't too sure what to do; my hand is too strong to just call but not strong enough to push so I just minraised it like a donk. River: ($19) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font> Hero calls $15.75 (All-In), CO calls $15.75. Since he never reraised my minraise or raised preflop I put him on a weak suited king. I didn't think he had a flush draw because he usually played them much more passively, the standard check/call then raising the river. Final Pot: $50.50 In any case, feel free to berate my play. |

Re: Is this river push as bad as I think it is?
c/r-ing river and pushing the river is not good IMO.
The turn check miniraise = donkish. I'd much rather lead or c/c turn and river. A better line would have been to lead turn and c/c river. Rarely are worse hands calling the river push. |

Re: Is this river push as bad as I think it is?
Yes it is.
Checkraise to 10 or 12 on the turn. When he has the flushdraw, he's getting perfect odds to draw. Make him pay. Which hand worse than yours is going to call you on the river? You know yourself there aren't a lot. Check, hoping he won't bet too much. |
