I played my first casino the other night, and the only had cash games of hold em (I usually do tourneys). The table was $2/$4, but the SB was $1 and the BB
was $5. What's the deal with that? Doesn't "$2/$4" mean that the SB is $2 and the BB is $4? |

2/4 (assuming it was a limit game) generally means the small blind is 1 and the big blind is 2.
The 2 is the bet size during the first two rounds. the 4 is the bet/raise size after the turn and river. I have no clue what the 5 was for. |

Well, actually my brain just started to work.
If you just passed by the table and looked, the big blind may not have had 2 - $1 chips and put out a $5 chip. The dealer will give him his change when the action is on him (or after the pot is pulled in). |
