Default Taking chips off the table with no wait list?

I was at a small Washington casino last night. We were playing short-handed omaha and there was (obviously) no wait list for the game.

I attempted to cash out a portion of my stack and the floorman looked at me as if I had three heads. I explained that since there's no wait list, there's nothing stopping me from getting up, cashing *everything* out, and immediately sitting back down with the amount I intend.

Nonplussed, the now pissed floorman asked me to show him any card room in existence that would allow that and told me he'd make me wait 30 minutes to sit back down. I asked him where this particular rule was posted, and he said it fell under the right to refuse service.

Is there official policy on this subject? Can you cash out part of your stack in a game with no wait list? Is it frowned upon? Can you get up and sit back down? Thanks!

Well, I'll say many rooms have a minimum waiting time before you can rejoin a game "as a new player." A lot of rooms have these sorts of rules to deal with must-move games and stuff like that.

The long and short of it is that you really can't cash out your stack... Why would you want to, anyway? You weren't playing PLO, were you?

I've never been to a b&m that would let you cash out some and continue to sit. Generally you could cash out if you wanted then go get something to eat. when you come back you could buy in normally and your profit from earlier is in your pocket, and you have some food in you. you're ready to go another 6-8hrs now.

Robert's rules of poker, rule #5 under procedures " If you return to the same game within one hour of cashing out, your buy-in must be equal to the amount removed when leaving the game"

FYI

I think I would check a mirror and make sure you don't have three heads.

please dont argue with the floor - esp. when you are unsure of their "rule" in the first place

first class N00B move - attempting to rathole? you should be ashamed of yourself

I've never played anywhere that didn't make you wait at least 30 minutes before rejoining a game of the same type and limit after you get up.
