OTB 20 Seat Rebuy, Flop Top 2....
Been kicking this around for a few days, thought I might get some feedback....
6 players left in a 20 seat, $20 buyin, 2000 chips home tourney. Rebuys for the first six levels (blinds are 75-150 after rebuy period is over) Pot is $620, 20 buyins + 11 rebuys. Payout as follows: $300, 150, 100, 50, 20 I am BB with QJ[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] . Blinds 300/600, 6 players left. I have 12900 in chips. Chip Leader/Villain has me covered ~22K (I don't know this player, it's our first time playing together, and he started at the other table. I have been card dead, and quiet. He has been a card rack, showing down pocket Aces, Kings, Queens, and a set of Jacks in the time we have been at the table together) 3 folds, Villain on on button raises to 1800, SB folds, I call. (QJ suited is a very good hand for me, as I have been seeing rags for some time) Comments? Flop comes Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Obviously, I have hit this flop hard. My plan is to try to get as many chips as possible from CL, oop. I check, imagining I will get a CB from Villain. Villain bets 1200 into 3900 pot. I call (??) , pot is 5100 Turn 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Obviously not the card I want to see, but I am not horrified, as it is heads up, the flop CB was weak, and I still think I am ahead, although I can't be sure. If I am behind, I have 4 outs on the river. I check again, Villain bets 2400 into 5100 pot. I call (??) Pot is 9900, I have 7500 left. River is 4[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] yuck ..... I check, Villain bets 5000 into 9900, I fold..... Go ahead, rip me a new one, but please provide reasoning. I was hoping to cripple chip leader while doubling up, instead I called off 40% of my stack, and ended up 5th.... Thanks. mondo |

Re: OTB 20 Seat Rebuy, Flop Top 2....
Call pf is fine obv. Flop check-raise, not check-call; the board is full of draws and the pot is big enough to pick up. Charge villain for TP, AK, or any other draw. If villain does have an overpair or AQ, you'll get it in on the flop where you'll know (in all likelihood) you're ahead.
Also, the pot on the turn starts at 6300. Villain bets 2400 into 6300, so the pot is 8700 and your stack is 9900 with 2400 to call. As played, on the turn you should probably push. Its still likely villains drawing to the flush with one diamond. When the river hits the fourth diamond, scream "YAHTZEEE!!" and maybe he won't fire. |

Re: OTB 20 Seat Rebuy, Flop Top 2....
Thanks for the replies..... apparently the "wait for a safe turn" line was wrong, though I thought he would continue to lead if the turn missed, which I had planned to crai....
Given I should raise the flop... V bets 1200 into 3900, I have 11100 behind cr to 3600 makes pot 8700, leaves me 7500 and gives V 8700 to 2400, or 3.6 to 1..... Am I not committed, and thus should crai on flop to charge draws maximum ? Or cr to 3600, push any turn ?? Trying to balance commitment, maximal return and bubble play all at once is FUN !!! Thanks. Any other comments, or is this a "standard" solution. peace, mondo |

I'm thinking cr to 5000, and shove the turn no matter what. If you're uncomfortable shoving the turn like that, then cr all-in on the flop.
