Default Rate this play.

Weekly home game, 2/5 PL. You limp with Q(c)T(c)3(x)4(x). SB, not a particularly good player, and most likely tilting from dropping his stack 10 minutes earlier, pots it. 3 players to the flop. K(c)9(c)2(c), SB pots it for $160, with $900 behind, you have him covered. Do you call, raise or fold? Why?

BTW, I wasn't involved in this hand, and the player in question disagrees with my opinion on this hand, so I thought I'd seek some other opinions.

Fold preflop.

You don't specify whether the third person to see the flop is still to act. I'm going to assume they folded or are otherwise irrelevant, but in reality it might matter...

I think I would call. If SB is doing a naked ace bluff (or any other kind of bluff), he will fold to a raise, but may fire again on the turn if we just call. I'm comfortable assigning him a > 50% chance of not having the nut flush here, and calling down on later streets.

For the record, I like the "fold preflop" option...

But, this turned out to be one of those awful plays with worse results. The PF raiser of course pots the flop. The guy with second nuts, repots it, still with the 3rd player to act. Third player folds.

PF raiser gives his patented "I ain't going ANYWHERE" comment, as he calls the additional $480, and flips up the nut flush. Of course, he still has around $400 behind him, and the guy with 2nd nuts has him covered.

When the jack of clubs rolls on the turn, 2nd nuts just became mortal locks with the straight flush. However, he too had flipped his cards up, so Mr. Ace-hi flush got to keep his last $400.

Two players. Two idiotic decisions. One happy donkey.

Fold preflop
Call flop (with that morbid feeling in your gut)

What an absolute and unbelievable train wreck for both of these players. Too bad Outlaw Josie Wales wasn't in attendance. And people argue that Euthenasia is not a beneficial practice. One of these two will end up buried in elephant dung within a few years if they don't have a pipe bomb blow their head(s) off first.
