We are 12 hands in. Villain has only played 2 heads ups according to Sharkscope and has lost both. Thus far villain has been consistent about raising his button for 3x BB and has cbet each pot for 2/3. This is the only flop where he has not cbet. However, I have reraised one of his cbets (with air) and he folded. Although I don't have enough hands to back it up, my impression of him is that he plays a standard game but is afraid of raises.

Flop: I expected that he would bet and I would take it down with a raise. When he checked I was immediately worried about a set. Turn: I took as a delayed cbet until he shoved. I couldn't really put him on any hand played normally at this point except a set or JT. I figure he could just be misplaying stuff but it is hard to put that into a hand range. I only need to win 31% or something (I didn't do any math). I figure this makes it a pretty easy call with my hand, but what kind of hand range should I be calling with here? Can I call with 97? 87? |

I call with 9x, but no less.
If he thinks you might raise his c-bet, I don't see why he wouldn't just bet a good hand on the flop. Then again, he may be thinking on that level too, and I don't want to go into levels of thought or my head my explode. |

I'm villain in this hand, trying to learn sngs. I don't have much to say about the hand from my end as I was rather perplexed as to what to do. I think I'm worse at this format than stars, so any advice is appreciated.

I don't mind the call, as It is possible to see hands like two overs + FD, middle pocket pair. 97 seems fine, but not 87.
Wu36, if you had two overs + FD, any big pair, two pair, a set, etc, you would want to just get it in on the flop. |

Pretty interesting turn check. I'm almost always leading this turn.

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah I really can't either. I guess calling with 97 and folding 87 is ok. It's hard to make any judgement as to whether he can show up with an 8 here. |

I don't like it a ton, but I would probably call. If villain has a set/overpair I would make a note and say nh.

Yeah, your line really looks like BS, so I definitely call.

He ended up showing A8, which is probably an equally interesting hand.
From villain's perspective (A8) I think that a cbet is imperative because the flop doesn't hit much besides hearts and the 9. As played I think his turn push is best. Thoughts? |
