Default WSOP Dealers

Many of you wonder why I no longer work with Harrah's. Here's a case in point. They already did this to the floor staff this year. Now they are trying to convince the dealers that they are making MORE money than before. LOL

According to Tony, they hired more than 700 dealers and were already having staffing issues as of the 7th. They lost more than 250 already.

Here is the deal - Anyone with a brain knew that HET would take the dealer's money and keep it as revenue. That is their prerogative.

The problem is simply they cannot be up front about it. I am quite sure that if HET told the roomful of dealers ahead of time what they were going to make, many of them would have not shown up on day 1.

There is simply no advocate in place to support the interest of the dealers, where as last year there were many.

If I were going to have 9000 players for a main event in a few days, I would be very concerned about this.

However, the dealers, who are being taxed for the first time in 2006, always have the right to quit.......we'll see how it works out. I know for sure, many of the dealers there will not be back in 2007.

If you are going to put dealers on payroll, you probably should have the capacity to execute the pay process. That is obviously absent here.

This all was quite predictable I'm afraid, and no one cares about how poorly the dealers, as people, are being treated - that's what is most disguisting.

I do. That's one of the reasons I parted ways with them..
They did the same stuff to full time HET employees last year. apparently, this is a "new" "improved" "more professional" "streamlined" WSOP.

Change just for the sake of change is not always progress.

As one experienced dealer said at the Dealer's Meeting yesterday morning, The Dealers have always been stolen from, but in the past it was okay because the dealers still made money.

This is my first and my last WSOP (unless they agree to pay us a flat hourly fee in the future).

I have never been supportive of the idea of a Union for casino dealers, however this experience has me convinced that Tournamenealers need to organize.

I am fortunate in that I live and work here in Las Vegas and was doing this to make some extra money to help get me through the slow times. Many of these dealers came to las vegas just for this event and need the money (which now barely meets their expenses) to live on. Which is why Harrah's unilaterally held our pay an extra week (which is a violation of law). they knew that they could create a situation for many dealers where they could not afford to walk out.

I have not walked out, but I have a new attitude about dealing and trust me when I say God help the first the player who throws his cards at me, or curses at me, or even aggravates me, because I don't need this job and its not paying enough to take any [censored].

The dealers weren't the only ones stolen from last year. The floor staff got a little dose last year too.

The difference between Mob run las vegas, and Corporate run Las Vegas, is that when the Mob stole money they made sure that everyone got a little piece of it. "Take a little, leave a little"

I know you do, and I recall one of the FT HET employees, who is no longer there, was adamant about the dealers being treated correctly.

HET is not capable of being upfront, it is as simple as that.

What a total laugh!!!!

general thoughts on the WSOP--how in the world can they not let the sattelite and live game dealers keep their own tokes? I played live at the rio once and the dealers were beyond bad. In the old days the dealers who dealt around town moonlighted at the wsop cause they kept their own tokes. i.e. Mai dealing 1995 tourney dealt at mirage and now bellagio and countless others--you start letting scumbag suits divy up tokes and someone always gets screwed. The ONLY reason the powers that be wont let dealers go for their own is so they can steal more.

Please be more specific when you say "suits". Many of the "suits" are good people. I am one of the suits. I have never stolen nickel from anyone. I have went out of my way, including MANY extra hours every week ensuring that dealer's money was accounted for to the last cent. One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch, but some apples are "spoil resistant"
