Boring hand with TP/FD -- how much to bet?
Hero has 2K, Villain covers.
10/20 9-handed -- Villain is somewhat LAG preflop, and above average post-flop. Most likely a modest winner in the game and plays a ton. Hero is CO w/ J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villain raises from MP to 70, hero calls, SB calls. Flop ($230): J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]4 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Folded to Villain who bets 185. Hero? Obv not going anywhere, but wondering what amount to raise...or is there any merit in calling here? I obv don't mind getting it all in here, but shoving now for ~90BB doesn't seem right. Initial plan is to raise to 525 and call a shove...? |

Re: Boring hand with TP/FD -- how much to bet?
with this TP+FD combo, you're obviously happy to get it in, but also you want to keep your outs clean, so i'd raise big and call a shove. additionally, your outs arent very concealed, so implied odds are diminished. and the 3 8's arent as nice because they make a 65 straight (not as concerned about him having it, but it might not get you as much of the action you want when it gets there and you've played passively)
who was villain, btw? |

i dont think raising is a requirement by any means, depending on your image in these situations. if you're raising AT on this flop, obviously you should be raising this. i agree with making it big though, but not completely out of line with your other raises.
