I really don't notice this on the higher limits but sometimes I do.

I was playing a $0.10 MTT on stars earlier tonight( I now I'm poor + plus I'm 17).

Well anyway so here's how the hand went down(sorry for no converter)

Early in the tourny blinds are 50 and 100, everyone has about 2000 in their stack and are playing LAG.

me: 1600
DEVIL: 2100

I get 9 9 in late position.
Devil is on the CO and calls the BB.
It is folded to me so I push.
It is folded to her and she calls with A5o

Flop: Axx
Turn: x
River: x

She says "Ha looks like I'm gonna win this tourny and ur gonna go home"

I told her I was already at home and that she made a horrible call.

To which she responded "I have your chips, dont I!?"
My blood started boiling and I closed the screen as fast as I could.

I don't know how to deal with these donks and it's driving me crazy.
I think someone would get slugged in the face if that happened live.

Ok you can flame on but I just want to know how people deal with this.

Would it make you feel any better if she said, "wow, i'm a donk. I made a terrible call"? What difference would it make to you? You're still on the rail.

That said you're 17, your testosterone is through the roof so go ahead and punch a pillow or something. But if you are serious about playing poker, you need to learn to deal with your emotions and gain some composure. Bad beats happen at all levels, on High Stakes Poker, Barry Greenstein got AA cracked by KK for $100+k. He didn't yell, curse his opponent out. He smiled reloaded and continued to play cards.

I can't speak for others but I usually completely ignore the chat - if it is affecting your play switch it off.
Oh, and on the plus side always be thankful that you are playing with lots of donkeys. Don't point out their mistakes just play your best and if possible exploit their weakness.

P.S, I'm also poor, stuck in the micros, and sadly not 17. Best of luck to you. You seem reasonable and willing to learn. Also, I think your push with those stack conditions early in a tourny was not a great play (I'm no expert though) but don't worry just keep trying to get better.

Agreed, but that is why people feel more bold playing online. I'd just block the chat if it is bothersome or not engage them in a pissing match by responding. That said you could aways add them to your buddy list and berate them the next time you take a big pot off of them. [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img]

I am different from most people I guess, at least in cash games. When a person tries to put me on tilt, it does the opposite. I end up paying 10x more attention to every detail of that player at the game, and act accordingly.

I had something like this the other night, and turned it into a really fun game.

SItuation, stars 6.5, 180man nlhe.

I have been raising with crud for a long time, no one was standing up, and i was +ev, just raising, cbeting, and folding to any rr. VERY nice.

BLinds 50/100. I raise to 300 with 47 off in CO. All fold to bb, who raises all in to 500.

I call, bb shows qq, and i get runner runner to get my straight.

Lets look the whole thing through. I have been raising, and increasing my stack with almost ZERO effort, and zero risk. To call the rr costs me 200 to see a 1000 pot, which is 8-1, MASSIVE odds. 47 vs ak is i think 30%, vs a pair is 20%.

EIther way, im calling. Of course there is a chorus of lol, donkey, fish, etc.

My play is good, my execution was brilliant, and i am viewed as an idiot.

Well, i start talking in the chat

Whats a donkey?
What does that mean?
ru jealous bc i am better?
How can 47 be a bad hand?
I won, didnt I?
I think you are being a sore loser, and need to play better.
I got 45678 and made a flush (my favourite line)

You can imagine the responses, and what they thought of my play.

I KNEW i was a whole heap better, and just capitalised, went a bit more weak tight, but then had rr and shoves called when i had kk, aa

Made it to the final table, and came about 5th.

Everyone types stuff like 'donkey gone, couldnt believe his luck'

Fact is, she misplayed her hand. She should have raised say 3bb (she cant shove with 21bb). You would have raised all in. Well, are you stealing, or have a hand. If she thinks you are stealing, she made the correct decision, if she thinks you had a hand, she prolly a MAJOR dog in the hand.

PF, when all the money went in, you were a 75% favourite.

She caught lucky.

People seem to think if they won the hand, they can play poker.

When i get sucked out on, i try to do this.

i) when the money went into the middle, was i the favourite?
ii) did i play my hand correctly, given what i knew AT THE TIME?
iii) should i consider changing my play in the future?

More often, i am making the right decision, which i stand by.

So, next time, play up for the cameras and the chat box, and then let them 'know' your a donkey. It is serious, serious fun!

spend your time trying to get laid. Play poker in a few years when you mature....you dont have the emotional stability to play poker which makes sense cause you are 17
