I know, I know - ANOTHER Atlantic City question...
A real quick question that I couldn't find the answer to on other posts -
I'm going to be busing it out to Atlantic City on Friday, and my question involves taking the bus back to NYC early Saturday morning - how reliable is Greyhound in the early hours of the morning? I have to be back in NYC by 9:00 am to go to work so I kind of need a dependable bus service... Any one had experience with late night buses from AC to NYC? Also - if I wanted to play a bit of limit Hold'em AND a bit of LLNL Hold'em - would the Borgata be the best place for me? And I know - if I was really smart - I would just save the time and play online...but I'm a bit of a LAGtard who is attempting to reform...and online play only seems to encourage me to persist in my LAGtard ways...so I'm going to try playing live and see if that will help me... For low-limit hold-em and 1/2 NLHE, you can go to any poker room in AC. Borgata has the nicest room, but it might not be the best choice for you because it doesn't have a bus depot and isn't within walking distance of anywhere that has one. Borgata made a conscious decision to steer away from bus customers in order to foster a higher-class atmosphere. |

I've found Greyhound to be reliable for the return trip to NYC. Be sure to pick up a schedule at the Port Authority when you're going down so you'll know your early morning return options. As previous poster noted The Borgata is probably not your best option due to their lack of bus service. Basically Greyhound returns to NYC every half hour
with buses departing from various Boardwalk casinos. Check the schedule. |

You're better off getting a bus at a casino. Lines can build at the terminal. The big risk is that buses will be full.

Re: I know, I know - ANOTHER Atlantic City question...
borg is your best bet for all games across the board. from limit to nl, potlimit,.etc.
and greyhound is reliable 95% of the time. early morning greyhound from balley's is not that packed. and if you do win big at holdem, try getting a town car up to nyc for $240 + tip. |

Re: I know, I know - ANOTHER Atlantic City question...
Greyhound is reliable, although you should get on line a little early to guarantee that you won't be locked out if the line gets huge, as it does sometimes. I agree with others regarding Borgata, the problem with Borgata is that you'll have to rely on jitney to shuttle you to and from the Boardwalk area where Greyhound operates, and jitneys are very unreliable, and doubly so early in the morning. You can wait at Borgata for half an hour for one to arrive.

I just think its funny that you are too LAG for online play and that you think you can CURE this by playing live. Hahaha, its going to be so much worse. I'm fairly TAG online, but a giant lagtard when playing live. How can you not be, you never get a hand!

It all feels like play money - at least when I'm in the casino and I physically have to handle the chips then it forces me to think an extra two seconds - "do I really wanta play that J5o in first position?" Thanks to all who answered the question...I'm thinking I should probably be finding an alternative to the Borgata that is actually on the Greyhound line... |

Re: I know, I know - ANOTHER Atlantic City question...
To get back by 9 am, the latest bus you should get is the 6:30 AM. A lot of times the bus will stay at the terminal for a good 15 minutes before finally taking off, so it'll be cutting it close. You're probably best off with the 6.

[/ QUOTE ] Definitely 6 am, the bus ride will take 2 hours 15 minutes in the ideal case that it leaves on time right after you board it at the casino and it goes straight to Port Authority terminal. More often than not, it's going to stop at another casino and/or AC bus terminal before finally departing for NYC, and sometimes do that after getting to the first casino 5-10 minutes late. You should definitely give yourself at least three hours just to get to the NYC terminal if timing is critical. |
