I think you Raise 5th and call down unless another Spade hits the board

Any reads?

If no, then I'd just grit my teeth & call down. Considering he bet into you on 5th when the third spade hit & 3 spades on third would make sense as a starting hand, don't be surprised when he tables a flush. If he checks, I check. No sense in getting crazy with this hand.

I raise or fold on 3rd. Probably fold. I raise on 5th and fold to a 3 bet from a rational player.

Agree - unless a 4th spade appears. If he checks then give him a free card.

Note - I muck this hand on 3rd, with the A out there and your 9 redraws dead I don't think its strong enough to play on.

EZ fold on 3rd, call on 5th but raise on 6th if no spade

Why did you play this hand on 3rd?

If you think you can steal, then a raise is ok i guess.

Raising on 6th is bad theory.

1) If he has got a flush you will get re-raised, costing you more. With a straight vs a 3-flush the hero should be showdown bound - keep it as cheep as possible.

2) In the event the villain only has a 3-flush your raise tells the villain his bluff has failed. You want him to go to showdown, a raise encourages a fold.

3) In the event of a 4 flush there is no way in hell he is going to fold - and he might suck out on the river.

In short the best strategy is to call down, its the most profitable in the long run and spews the least amount of chips.

Are these the same reasons you would caution against a rise on 5th?
