NL25 TPTK on two-tone board - pot control vs. protection?
Villain appears tight/passive based on 30 or so hands.
Poker Stars No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 9 players Converter Stack sizes: UTG: $8.35 UTG+1: $22.05 MP1: $19.90 Hero: $43.75 MP3: $10 CO: $14.40 Button: $9.45 SB: $12.25 BB: $23.65 Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP2 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.75, MP3 folds, CO calls, 3 folds. Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] ($1.85, 2 players) Hero bets $1.25, CO calls. Turn: 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] ($4.35, 2 players) Then my brain turns to mush. He didn't go away and now I've got a paired board to think about too. Risk giving a free card or keep on firing? |

OK, so I kept on firing - albeit not as much as suggested - and Villain kept on calling until the river, where it got awkward:

Am I committed? My gut says no - I don't think he'd go to the river with nothing, in which case he's just improved to 2-pair or better, and he doesn't have enough chips to bluff with a busted flush draw. Thoughts? |

[/ QUOTE ] you have 2 pair and top kicker. You bet really weakly, he could be raising a worse Q etc. for value here. |

maybe he has 77 in the hole, or perhaps he slow played 22 all the way. Anything else and you have him beat, therefore, you should call here.

From my limited Stars experience so far (I love it, they are sooo bad..): call and expect to see everything from KQ over A7 to JJ or some total bluff. I never ever fold there!

Re: NL25 TPTK on two-tone board - pot control vs. protection?
Agreed, since the effective stacks are $10.00 with TPTK I usually decide to commit on that flop.
Its hard to get away from TPTK on this board (why would he ever have a 3?) with 20bb The fact that he didnt raise at any point until the river makes me less wary of AA, KK so I go ahead here and get it in here. |

Next time plan on getting all in if you hit TPTK against a stack that size. Then size your bets accordingly.
