running bad
I am just curious on how long someone can run extremly bad for. It has been coming on a few weeks now where just, well, some bad beats, others are just crazy. Ex. of the crazy ones. Last 2 nights of playing in live tournaments ($40 buy in freezeout approx. 50 ppl). 2 nights ago I got taken out by AA and I had AA. Last night I was bb with J-9 of diamonds I get to see flop free and comes my str8. Guy bets I raise he puts me all in. He has J-9 of spade. Runner runner for the flush. Others have been horrible calls and they hit their 6 outer or something. I have been putting my money in with best hand and it hasn't held up for the last few weeks. Do I need some time off, or give up completely. I am frustrated by the beats as of late. I am playing in real beatable games. I have suffered a few big bad beats in cash games and been able to grind my way to even but that sux.
Now I could sit here and whine that I think the site is rigged only it has been on 2 different sites and live. |

Re: running bad
The more hands you play, the more times you'll run into the improbable. Try not to worry about it.
If it's really getting to you then just take a week off or something. |

Re: running bad
The worst run I've had so far has been over about 14000 hands where I just slowly lost money over that time span. Hardest part was putting in so many hours and actually losing cash.

Re: running bad
This is how bad it is. I just played a hand where I had wired 9's and I raise. Catch my 9 on the flop. Along with a Q. Turn comes Q and dude check raises me. I know he is on a Q. I got him. Nope he caught his river Q.

Re: running bad
I was wondering about this too. I have only been playing for over a year but last year I came out ahead just by playing mostly tight aggressive solid poker in low stakes games. 2007 has been a slow drip to the point I am down to almost where I started a year ago. I can't seem to shake it no matter what I do and I fear it is just a matter of time before I lose my bankroll. Any thoughts, suggestions?

Re: running bad
backspin,
I am playing same. just today I got some good cards and my AA ran into two sets twice. My KK yesterday ran into a set of 3s as well. Then I decided to play in a tournament and my pair of Aces on flop lost to a gut shot straight on the river right on the bubble. I always bet big hands before flop, nothing cute. I know Im a favorite but this has been the story of my life since 2007 started. I just didnt realize how long this would go and what a dent it would put in my bankroll which is now under where I was a year ago. I just cant shake it and I know my confidence is gone. I tried taking couple days off and its back to the same old. |

Re: running bad
Lost 50 at the Casino the other night with absolutely nothing. The best hand I was dealt was A8 offsuit all night. The guy to my left got boat after boat after boat, I'm talking full houses, flushes, top two pair, all of it. I even checked to see if the casino employee was a mechanic!
