Is Matt Serra the greatest fighter of all time?

Had to get your attention somehow with the title [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]. But seriously what the heck happened in that GSP vs Serra fight? It seemed like GSP didn't come to fight at all. I thought Serra would have no chance after seeing that Matt Hughes knock out.

I agree that Diego was shocking. I wanted Josh to win, but really expected Diego to have the advantage and thought it was going to be a really tough fight. But it looked almost like Diego was afraid to shoot for the takedown and wasn't willing to slug it out either. No idea what his strategy was.

Yea, he was stunned but he could have recovered better if he just clinched. That or gone for a takedown. Yes, he probably would have lost the round doing that but better than the whole fight.

I didn't see the Diego vs. Koscheck (sp?) fight but I heard it was real boring. From what I read I'm surprised Diego lost the standup fight especially considering he trained with De La Hoya! I don't know how much sense it would make for Diego to go for a takedown as Koscheck is a literally a world class wrestler.

Like they said on the broadcast, the win for Serra did a hell of a lot more than the loss by GSP......Serra will now become a household name in UFC, GSP will be a hall of famer just like Hughes......what I still can't get over is how nobody flipped when Cotour won last month...that was probably the best fight, and biggest upset in UFC history...even though everyone loves Coutour he wasn't expected to win...god i love UFC!

He probably thought he had the adavantage standing with Koscheck, and therefore his strategy was to trade punches unless taken down. The real question is: Why did he not switch to Plan B when it was obvious that he was losing the standup? My best guess is that he was just afraid of getting KOed and took the low road of losing a decision rather than trying to win and possibly enduring the embarassment of getting KOed by Kos. I think Diego got caught up with his undefeated record and caught the Tim Sylvia disease of fighting not to lose. As we've seen that can be a very effective strategy against lesser opponents, but can backfire against better competition.
