Default so i need a laptop

my gf wants one and all she needs is something she can type on and go on myspace with. no gaming on heavy down loads.


something with decent ram and hard drive space would make sense. any thoughts???

You can spend as much as you want on a laptop so you'll need to be little more clear on price range.

I'd make sure it had 2 gigs of ram and a good HD size, say at least 100. I don't follow processor speads anymore so someone else will need to speak to that.

You'll probably get a better deal at Dell, but get it faster at a local store. There is also the chance to get 10% or more off by getting a store card with the purchase then paying it off or transferring it to a lower rate card.

Looking at some recent benchmark data, 2GB of RAM doesn't give any gain over 1GB of RAM on consumer benchmark tests using Vista Ultimate.

My Dad has a 1GB system with a Core2 Duo we picked up at Staples in July for $750 and it is a nice machine.

Get a cheap Core2 Duo and she will most likely be happy. Processor speeds are kind of meaningless unless you are comparing the same processor brand.
