Default How to play the $20 NLH Game at the Normandie Casino, Gardenia CA

Okay so I'm a newbie.

Players in So Cal are fast and loose and aggressive and give a lot of action. At the Normandie Casino it is ten times faster, loose and players give so much action; how do I play them?

Playing at other card rooms in Los Angeles the players are similar, but the players at the Normandie seem to have more experience and plenty of cash to keep playing over and over. Nobody busts out!

I have been playing their $40 NLH Buy-In but I figure I should first learn to beat the new $20 game they are starting.

All tips are gratefully sought.

WOW.. they have a $40 and $20 buy-in?

This is really in the wrong forum as it should be in the PL/NL forum, but this game shocks me. What are the blind structures? Typical $4 rake? Sounds like a pushfest irrespective!

You are correct - my error. I realized after posting this is the limit section. I reposted in the PL/NL section.

The blinds are $1/$2 but I don't know the rake. Thanks for pointing this out.

I will ask next time I play.

As for a push-fest, sometimes the $2/$4 low limit game seems like Poker Bingo but it is not at the Normandie.

Early in the day it is tighter game when there are regulars in the game - but later at night there seems are sometimes 4 to 6 players until the turn.

The Normandie is the only place where the $2/$4 and $3/$6 game have only one blind; something I can not find anywhere else. This one blind makes for a different game.

Think about this for a second... let's look at an example.

Hero just bought in for $20 and posts in CO.
Blinds $1/$2
Hero dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in CO
UTG limps, UTG+1 limps, folded to hero who makes it $10, everyone folds except UTG+1 who calls.

Flop : (pot $25) xxx
I doesn't matter really, no matter what the flop, hero is gonna get his last $10 into the pot on the flop.

PUSHFEST... how can it be anything else w/ a max buyin of 10BB? Unless by $20, you are talking about the min buy-in and not the max.

And if the rake is $4, I would stay away from this game as every hand 1/5th of a buy-in is being removed from the table!!
