Default I whiff on the flop

so lets try the turn instead.

villain is IPray2God, maybe 2p2. not sure, seems decent

Full Tilt Poker, $0.50/$1 NL Hold'em Cash Game, 5 Players
LegoPoker Hand History Converter

UTG: $36.80
CO: $105
BTN: $163.90
SB: $85.35
Hero (BB): $168.85

Pre-Flop: J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] dealt to Hero (BB)
2 folds, BTN raises to $4, SB folds, Hero calls $3

Flop: ($8.50) 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($8.50) K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 Players)
Hero checks, BTN bets $7, Hero raises to $22

flop check was kinda a surprise by him as I had intended to c/r him. I think if it was any other card I'd have just led out, but seeing how its soooo likely he'll try to bluff it I felt like c/r was a good option. plus if he actually has a king, he'll consider folding it on the turn a lore more often than if I just donk into him.

thoughts?

kinda trying to mix up my play more as I feel like the last few weeks I've just been a betting station as a result of too much grinding.

I'd reraise preflop. I think a turn lead is fine, but the c/r is OK, too, because he doesn't have a K very often IMO. I like a flop lead a little more than a c/r, too, because when called we're going to be deep and OOP. I'd rather b/3bet here I think.

1. we're deep so we can rr more often
2. what are you hoping to accomplish when we c/r 1) get shoved on 2) calls and the turn bricks?

IŽd def c/r this flop, usually they will bet/fold in this spot.
Also, I really think you should 3 bet this preflop as your range is probably ahead of his.

orange,

thoughts on bet/3bet on the flop?

not really sure when to do this b/c its just not something I do very often. in my experience nobody folds overpairs like ever so you're just taking the worst of it a lot of the time.
