giving free/cheap flops with AA?
If we are sitting on the SB/BB or LP and get AA in the middle of the SnG do we always raise? How do we play against thight players with this hand. Lets say we are at the BB and it's folded to the SB who only call, do we raise if it's a thight player or check and play teh flop? What do we do in LP, raise or just call?
It can get pretty thight around the bubble some times... |

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
Raise. Always. How much you raise is up to you (at least 2.5x BB IMO), but never ever ever ever EVER let someone see a flop for free...and then find yourself staring at a 678 board or 3 of a suit you don't have or something else sick like that, and believe me, it'll happen. There's also the freak possibilty of someone flopping two pair on you. Bottom line: raise.

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
Whether or not to limp AA is highly dependent on the table dynamics and your image.
It's is rare that limping will be appropriate. Usually, you will not have an image of someone who limps a lot. Also, it will be rare to have an opponent at a low or mid stakes sng that will raise light to punish limpers. More often than not, you image will be TAG and people will be expecting you to raise. So, that is usually what you should do. Also, more often than not, the leak of your common opponent is going to be that they call too much preflop and stack off too light post flop. So, this is another argument for raising. |

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
the only time i would EVEN CONSIDER limping with AA is heads up vs a short stack.

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
generally, raise, but there are times when limping is more profitable. ie. there are many instances where you can be almost certain an all-in will follow your limp, whereas a raise will produce a fold. etc.
if you're a level one player then raise, always. |

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
Raise that thing. I was shortstacked in the same position in a tournament at Atlantic City, and I checked with the J/4. The flop was a J,4,8. There I was with 2-pair against his Aces. He bet me all in, and I had him. The point is with J/4 against a large stack, there's no way I'd have called if he raised me preflop even a 2xBB.

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
just that it went wrong one time doesn't make it wrong in every case.
I like to limp QQ+ pf headsup against someone playing aggressively. sometimes you will be "sucked out" ("" cuz you didn't raise and deserve it) but often enough you get an extra bet from him or even stack him well, you gotta play variable and your opponent. |

Re: giving free/cheap flops with AA?
Limping monsters heads up is entirely different, and really isn't comparable to anything else.
