Default Not having left-hand side section?

When I view the forums on my Motorola Q smartphone, I have to scroll down everytime i refresh or go to a thread because it first shows the left side (green section with links to forums)...is there a url that only will show the 'meat' of the forum...the middle white section (it can show the right side ads as well for all i care)?

i'm tired of scrolling through the links that I don't need every time

yeah, there was a thread about this a few months ago. general consensus was that getting rid of the sidebar was an abysmal idea. as 90+% of users browse 2p2 on a desktop and the sidebar is necessary. the idea of a lite version for pda's was discussed but i dont think 2p2 was that interested.

oh, i'm not asking to get rid of it for all
i was wondering about a link that didn't have it, so default would be to have it and alternative would be to not

i don't need it pda-optimized or anything; it looks great as is; just want the sidebar gone or at least the main forum section programmed to be the first section so that pocketIE/pocketOpera/etc display the forum first and then the sidebars

moving it to the right side of the page would be crucial

I asked about this a few months back. Don't hold your breath...2p2 looks the same today as it did when I lurked in 2003. We'll continue to party like it's 1999.

Actually, it should be pretty trivial to serve an additional stylesheet to hand-held devices that removes the left hand column:

This goes into the .php files associated with the forum:

<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" media="handheld" href="http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/stylesheets/handheld.css">

...

<TABLE BORDER=0><TR><TD id="leftcolumn" VALIGN=TOP WIDTH=125 BGCOLOR="#85F2C3" TEXT="#000000" LINK="#666666" VLINK="#000000">

[/ QUOTE ]

This goes into handheld.css

[ QUOTE ]

#leftcolumn {
display: none;
}

[/ QUOTE ]

There you go...

True, but ever since the 'wood paneling' incident, everyone fears change. My bet is...your code will be ignored. I hope I'm wrong.

no, the left hand menu used to be in a separate frame and you could load just the main pages without it, which was great -- until they started putting ads in the menu.
