Default OT: Critique my bankroll mangement

I'm currently playing the 10+1 SNG's at Party. I took a short brake from poker for awhile and just recently started up again. I've got a full time job and poker is something I do when I have free time for a little extra cash and for fun.

The most common advice I've seen posted about bankroll management for SNG's is 50 buy ins. However, what I've been doing is jumping up to the 20 + 2 SNGs whenever I win first place at a 10 and I'll continue at the 20's until I don't get in the money then I jump back down to the 10's. I don't see a signicant differenct in skill at the two levels and this way I can maximize money when I hit a winning streak.

So, should I just stick to the stable 50 buy in method or is what I'm doing fine? My bankroll right now is near 300.

every method is fine, until the cards go dead.

then you'll wish you had 50 buy-ins.

If you've got a fulltime job - who cares? You can always deposit some money into there if you lose your bankroll.

Your luck doesn't run in streaks so that's not a valid argument. I have no problem taking shots though and if you only plan on losing 1 tourney at the $22s before moving down I can't see that increasing your ROR much. An idea I like better though is mixing in one $22 in every set as long as your BR is above whatever requirement you have for the $11s and go back to strictly $11s if it dips below.

If your bankroll can be funded at any time and you can lose the money in there now without being too sad then you don't need to follow the 50 buyin rule.

It is more a rule for bank roll building that minimizes your chances of going broke.

I agree with Oyvi.

Your avatar is incredibly kickass. I may have to steal it.

If you can't bank $2K playing $11 sngs, you can't beat the $22's either. I'd recommend 100 buy-ins and more if it takes you more than about 1000 sngs to get that.

Use the ROI simulator to play with a risk of ruin you're comfortable with.

all that matters is what you yourself are comfortable with.
