Default Lyme disease

I have lyme disease. I'm currently taking medicine (cefuroxime) for it. I'm also starting college in under a week. How will this effect my life? Is drinking a bad idea? Drugs? Any other thoughts?

Just for the sake of argument, let's say that my physician has been compromised.

Not supposed to drink. You will be very tired and generally feel like absolute crap.

Depending on how early he and his doctor caught the problem this isn't true.

I had Lyme disease last year and I didn't feel abnormal at all. The only way I knew I even had it was the common bullseye rash around where I had removed the tick.

I believe alcohol lowers the effectiveness of antibiotics so just don't drink until you finish your medication.

Edit: Webmd.com probably has much better info than you will find here.

Lyme disease appears to be a pretty controversial topic; I did some reading about it a while ago when I was having some problems that might have been explained by having Lyme disease. The typical response is a pretty long course of antibiotics, which is supposed to clear it up. I think most doctors say this should be something like 4 weeks, but some people seem to think months are necessary, and that if you don't do this you can get flareups later on, et cetera. There are doctors that apparently specialize in Lyme disease; it seems like a fringe specialty, and they are few and far between.
