Default Fun w/ K9o

Commerce 40-80 game, 9 handed. CO is tight and passive, pretty straight forward after the flop. Not at all typical for this game. At this point, I hadn't played enough with him to get more precise than that.

Preflop:
Folded to The Dude in the hijack who raises with K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. CO 3-bets, folded back to The Dude who calls.

Flop: (7.3 SBs) Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 Players)
The Dude checks, CO bets, The Dude raises. CO calls.

Turn: (5.7 BBs) 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
The Dude bets, CO raises. The Dude...?

this stinks like AK, but there are a ton of other hands villain could be holding, so your only option is to rrraise and feel good about it

now post how you did actually raise and how villain 4-bet you and make this discussion interesting

why is that your only option. even if raises here with TT-AA, we are still about 50/50 to be behind. raising and folding to a cap is an option, but the dude's read is not strong enough to do that imo.

if you wanted to post an example hand which contains the phrase "3-bet the turn and fold a 4-bet" this would be it

^^ reads are important in these spots, but hero hasn't been playing long with villain, so we can't be sure about hero's read

I get comments all the time from regulars, who think they know but don't have a clue, about how 'tight' I play, but if one of them open raises in the CO I 3-bet them with A9o or T9s OTB without thinking about it, but they always put me on premiums and I love it

also, when someone seems to be playing passive, they might have been a little card dead

I dunno, giving villain a range of solely TT-AA seems very wrong to me and without a better read I'm giving villain a much wider range which is why I don't have to think long about raising this turn

I've made many mistakes before by incorrectly trusting a read of an unknown player with whom I haven't been playing long enough to be sure

calling down isn't bad if you're uncertain what villain is holding, bc I too would hate to raise/fold turn, esp against an unknown, but we're missing value by not raising
