I thought during the hand that leading the turn was better than checking, but thought that made my hand pretty transparent, I mean when I lead the turn what else is he putting me on other than an A or 4? Although checking is pretty bad too, as he has to put me on an A or 4 on the turn anwyay, if he views as reasonably competent. Ugh, I just really hate this spot.

On the river I felt there was a decent chance it was a bluff, but lately I've had similar situations, only to the have villian turn over a flush or boat, and I guess that was preying on my mind.

even if you think it makes your hand transparent, you gotta lead that turn. It looks like he folds if you bet, and you take down a nice pot. On the river, don't let past results affect future decisions. Your check induced a bluff. Don't induce bluffs if you don't intend to call an induced bluff, otherwise you're just spewing.

Bet the turn! With checking on the turn and the river you were asking for a bet by villain.

I might raise preflop.

Flop and turn are fine with me. I would call the river.
