NL200: Is there any ways for me to play this hand better?
I sat at the table for about 20 mins, ppl were general pretty tight, so i decide to play LAG. Villain seems like one of the bad players but i dont have a read on him. He is running 21/5/4. should i have folded the flop against the mini-raise. Im not really familiar with the plays at NL200, as i was taking a shot at the time. Although, prior to this play, i got mini-raised alot on different tables.

Re: NL200: Is there any ways for me to play this hand better?
Well, fold preflop.
But you were playing loose aggressive to steal from the nits, so I suppose the pfr and cb are OK as long as you don't fall in love with TPWK for a big pot. And you have TPWK and the pot just got big on the flop when he min-raises your cb. So, fold to the min raise. Now, if you think the min-raise is very often a draw, then you might make a case for pushing on the flop. But calling is not good. I'd say push or fold the flop, with a strong leaning toward fold. You tried to build a nice little preflop pot, and then either steal with a cb or flop a big hand (2-pair or better) with which to "surprise" somebody with a worse hand for lots of chips. You flopped TPWK. One of the "bad players" min-raises you with much less than a pot sized bet left behind on a draw-heavy flop. So, if you think combo draws are a very big part of his range and that you have enough in the pot already to go up against that range with a marginally +EV, then push. But I don't think that is the case here. I think you got caught stealing with TPWK and you should just give up the pot on the flop. Calling the flop min-raise pretty much commits you to calling the rest if no heart comes on the turn or river. Now, as it turned out, the A and K on the flop and turn might prompt you to make a fold, but only if you don't think he'd do this with a missed combo draw of somekind (like 78s) at least 20% of the time. |

I don't know about the min-raise. He could have you beat, but he could be on draw. I'd either put him all-in or fold.
The turn card might be a good one for you to represent. You can get him to lay down KJ and QJ. Then again, if he has Ahxh, you're screwed. I don't mind the check. River. 2 overs to your pair and QT just made a straight. Easy fold. |

thx for the reply, Albert Moulton. That was really helpful.
In your relpy, you mentioned about if combo draws being big part of villian's range then i should call. How do know this? How do you know when a combo draw is a big part of your opponent's range? |

Shove or fold flop. I think you can shove if you suspect people playing back lightly because you're playing laggy, otherwise its a standard fold.
