Flop the Nuts - Line Check
Villian seems generally bad/loose/very reckless sometimes when he gets tired of people raising him but usually passive. On the flop here I wasn't sure how strong he was - he is capable of making this play with a wide range I think because he seems to be an ego player and I've been raising his limps a lot. How many just shove flop or maybe min-raise him back? Given how I played it and the 'omfg why do cards like this always come off when I slowplay the nuts!!??' turn card, what is the standard play and why? Thank you.
NL100 5-handed - Effective stacks 120 - Hero is LAG Hero is button with Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] UTG folds, Villian limps, Hero raises 5, folded to Villian who calls Flop (11) K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 10 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Villian bets 3, Hero raises to 12, Villian raises to 21, Hero (?) calls Turn (52) J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Villian bets 22, Hero? |

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
I would keep raising the flop - obviously he likes his hand

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
I put in a smallish 4-bet on the flop.
Shove turn and freeroll if he has Qx. |

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
raise the flop again to any [censored] amount you want; against this guy it doesn't even matter.
shove turn. it's pretty irrational to fear the nuts here and he's calling with any Q and probably two pair or hearts |

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
id 4-bet to $35-$40 here if i think he would call. we are probably freerolling him here anyway.

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
I don't fear the nuts on the turn at all - I was thinking that this guy is so unpredictable that if I flat-called the turn he might bet the river almost regardless of what he had. I'm not sure if that makes up for the freeroll. But if he has a hand that he is willing to call a turn shove with (i.e. a Q or set or two-pair or whatever he thinks is a good hand) then I doubt he will fold it if a heart comes off on river and I shove then - that was my thinking anyway. Needless to say I flat-called turn. I'm not sure if you guys think that's a bad play - I'm just not convinced of the merits of going for the freeroll here, although it's usually the default play. I'm open to argument though.

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
Not to sound repetitie: 4 bet the flop to $42 and if he calls, shove the turn and excliam "More Power To 'Em If He's Got An Ace!" You CANNOT be afraid of too much against such a weak player. If you lose, you lose.

Re: Flop the Nuts - Line Check
I don't understand your post at all Simm - why should I care if he has an ace? I think you misread the board and didn't read the original or any of the other posts properly. Please do so before posting.
