Do you think tipping affects your win rate dramatically or is this balanced out by the bad play in most B&M rooms?

WTF, it's a direct cost, however much you tip is what it costs you, figure it out.

a) wtf of course it's not 'balanced' - tipping subtracts from your winrate, no matter how high it is.
b) i play 5/10nl, and $5-$8/hour in tips is about 8% of my winrate. |

Let me rephrase.
To win at poker you usually need to beat the rake and the other players. To win at live poker (cash), you must beat the rake, the tips, and the other players. Now, to do that there must be some extra edge that you must have at live games to make this worthwhile. If you tip $1 per pot you win at a 1/2 game then you are losing half a BB everytime you do it. You could play 30 hands per hour live (you need 1BB per hour to get the desired 3BB/100 hands win rate). You might actually only play 6 hands in this hour. Of those, you might win 2 hands. Each time you tip $1 for a total of $2 over the hour = 1 BB. Therefore playing live, you can only break even. Discuss |

Tipping affects your karma....win three hands, don't tip any of them, and you will be dealt 7-2o 22 hands in a row.
