Default The pitfalls of anarcho-capitalism, part 16

The biggest economic danger I see with anarcho-capitalism is the inability to prevent monopolies.

I bet pvn replies with, "The only monopolies are those granted by governments."

This issue has been debated to death in here. We should start a separate AC forum.

Name a single monopoly that has existed without the aid of government.

Market-produced monopoly is a myth based on shoddy economic theory.

Unfortunately, no, it is not a joke. Our government funded indoctrination system tells people, and they believe, that monopolies can arise in the market, and that government somehow acts against this. It's complete bunk, but that doesn't stop them.

It seemed like logical sense to me, but that's coming from someone who doesn't know much about economics. Know any good reading material on the subject?

Yes. Pick up Thomas J. DiLorenzo's How Capitalism Saved America. It debunks numerous myths about capitalism and government, including antitrust laws. This is one of the best books I have ever read. And no, DiLorenzo is not an anarchocapitalist. Although lord knows why not, given his devastating treatment of the state.
