Response to my Craigslist ad

I have a couple of standalone dvd recorders that i am trying to get rid of on craigslist. Here was an interesting response i got.

Hi,

My name is Jasneth and it appears I am very technologically-behind the times. I need a DVD player. Well nobody really needs a DVD player, (we need air, food, shelter.......) but recently, someone gave me some DVD's from their children's collection and was amazed I didn't have a DVD player and only a VCR..

My sons are 7 & 4. I bought most of my children learning VHS tapes 7 years ago when my first child was born and they were pass down to my second. I knew they were outdated and yes, I still show Stuart Little at my house which I think is the last VHS title I actually bought but I didn't know the world went totally digital.

Anyway, I am up at 3:30 this morning and I would love to wrap all these DVD's for my sons (not to mention putting them under the tree in single packages) but we don't have a DVD player and I am too financially impaired right now to buy one. I know it is the season right now for everyone to be broke, so if you are selling because you need the money, I hope you find a "real" buyer soon.

So much is commercialized about Christmas and if we don't get a DVD player, I still have two of the most amazing boys in the world to wake up with on Christmas morning but I would greatly appreciate your generosity.

nothing i guess. i cant afford to give it away. Assuming the reply is serious, i will email him back and wish him a happy holiday

reef: dvd recorders but i guess they could be used as players as well

negotiate something along the lines of a barter system. If they don't have the money that's one thing, but everybody pays one or another.

Ya that is good. At first I felt bad for the guy, but when I read shrug's "what a manipulative little bitch" I came too. This guy is a prick for trying to get free stuff out of you.
