Paired door double bet.
I'm not a stud expert, so I'm curious to know why the player has an option to double the bet after pairing his door card. I imagine there must be some sort of interseting history behind this special rule, but I dont remember ever hearing of it.
Someone care to explain how that started? |

Re: Paired door double bet.
I eagerly await explanation on this too. Something i've been curious about for long time.
I play my stud at a site without the double bet, and its always weird when i play somewhere else. |

Re: Paired door double bet.
I have no idea as to the origins of this. However, I suspect like so many other variations in poker, this one just evolved out of playing and became common practice.
Be that as it may, it is intended to allow the player to "protect" his hand, i.e., give him/her the opportunity to make a BB on 4th street in order to make it unprofitable for other players to chase and suck-out with weak holdings. |
