Default chasing gut shots

I hate to bring this up because it feels like an elementary question but I have been playing a bit of low limit hold'em (live play) mostly in AC.

Very typically I am getting the right price to play for a gut shot in these low limit games. I believe the odds of hitting a gut shot is 10.5:1. I call often times but I feel like I am leaking my money away many times as calling sometimes leads to a pair but not the straight.

Should I always play this in low limit if the price is right. I have not had much success at LL Hold'em and I am wondering if chasing this sort of hand is just a leak or if I am truly justified in doing so.

You can usually call only getting 8:1 and sometimes as low as 7:1.

Things to consider is if your gutshot is to the nuts, any additional outs you may have, and how many active players there are left and how aggressive those players are.

That is if you are drawing on the flop. On the turn you will want to be clue to the true odds of hitting because you have one less round to collect bets when you make your hand.

It's also easier to make up bets from the flop to turn than turn to river with the bets doubling.

One other thing to consider is if your 4 outs are clean or not. One of them might make a flush for someone on the turn etc. But yea, you usually can draw to them.

This is critical. In a 5 way pot on a 2-flush board, 1 of your outs is almost certainly dirty.

With a gutter to the nuts on a rainbow board, you can probably draw getting only 8 to 1. With a gutter to the non-nuts on a 2-flush board, I usually want more like 12 to 1.

Your immediate odds on the flop are 10.5:1. However, if you take into account your implied odds then sometimes you may be able to call only getting 8:1 as you will make up those bets on later streets. This isn't always the case though, so always take into account all other factors as well when making your decision to continue (aggressiveness of table, likelihood of x number of people calling a turn bet, etc.)
