400nl - Maybe boring KK preflop with a poll
Villain in this hand is 52/18/2 over a decent sample. I've never seen him show down a hand he's min-raised preflop before. Other than that he's playing like his stats suggests, pretty aggro, capable of bluffing but not a showdown-donk.
Villain open-raise to $8 from MP, button calls, I re-raise to $42 with KK from SB, villain min-raise again to $74, button folds. Stacks are 100bb deep. |

5bet, get it in asap, probably not even folding an ace high flop if you somehow see one

Re: 400nl - Maybe boring KK preflop with a poll
yeah vs a decent player i'm more inclined to shove, but vs a donk like this 5betting to 199 or something is probably better cos he "has to see a flop" with hands like 99 AQ and stuff but he might *possibly* fold them if you shove

if you 5bet and he calls and the flop is A-rag-rag, you probably wanna check/call every street.

def 5b, one important factor is that if he has a hand like AQ he'll miss the flop alot and may well give up.

well if the flop isnt ace high (or king high) then were def shoving. who cares if he folds aq, no more money is going in anyway and we cant let him have a free ace

def 5b, one important factor is that if he has a hand like AQ he'll miss the flop alot and may well give up. [/ QUOTE ] Yes, the benefit of pushing is getting the full stack from AK/AQ type of hands that might fold on the flop (not certainly because he'll get 3:1 to get 2 cards and might call on a low flop or with a gs or something). Personally I don't think this really looks like AK/AQ and probably isn't a huge portion of his range, even though they're possible. This could anything from some kind of PP to air and I think "forcing" him to a flop with junk and felting any piece by raising to 190ish has more value than pushing right away. Thus I voted "standeard re-raise", but pushed in the actual hand. |

Re: 400nl - Maybe boring KK preflop with a poll
ummmmm aq isn't calling a 5bet shove
ak might, but you realize that the equity isn't terribly different, if he calls the shove right out, or if he calls the 5bet and shoves an ace high otherwise check/folds. im not about to run some math at work, maybe later if im still curious, but given these assumptions, him calling off preflop is probably isnt really that much more +EV for us than if he calls and check/folds w/o an ace and we stack off if he hits his ace |
