Why not bet the flop? Then with that turn card bet again and again until villian is all in. The way you played you got what you were looking for, now call, if he had more money I'd be very careful.

So Machine (aka Raise72Offsuit), you're fishy? LOL

I would represent the king on the flop and bet out. It gives FE and defines villains hand on a king if he calls a potbet (it's still a small pot). Then potbet this turn.

As played, I suspect villain to have J9 and he went all in to justify a loose call for a gunshot. Right?

I also noticed this, no big deal, but you said you had no read on hero instead of villian on the original post.

Didnt mean any offense. Just a little joke bout your typo.

I would fold the riverpush as a T probably beats your kicker and J9 or 96 sure does. The pot isnt very big yet.

Vs a shorty I call this all day. When you checked the river you have to call here.

Agreed.

Op: If you are checking to induce a bluff from villan, then you have to be willing to call this bet. Other wise you shouldn't do it. If he trapped you(not extremely likely), or somehow got there on the river, them's the breaks. But by checking, it is likely his big bet is either the nuts or nothing. It's tough to decide what to do w/out read, and I'm not sure that just his particular name is enough to judge his play by. I would have to call.

I would consider betting the river for value. Somewhere around 2/3 the pot. Not so small that it looks like I'm begging for a call, but not too large to scare off a caller. I think there are many hands with which villan can call with that you are beating. If he raises the river I won't like it ,but I call and hope for a chop, or that he's way out of line, and then take notes on what he showdown.

It looks like the money has to go in here against this player, but I think if you bet out on the river, and then feel you are beat, I think this way at least offers you some chance to get away from it.

Also, in checking the river were you intending to just call a bet, or were you planning to check raise?
