Re: 66, big mess
I hate these kind of spots. No matter what you do youre gonna question yourself afterwards. I think with the spade draw missing youre crying call on the river will be profitable but Im certainly not sure. Like I said, I hate these type of situations becuz it feels like it's impossible to play these well. I try not to worry about these spots too much and just recognize that there will always be some situations where I hate all lines and theres nothing I can do about it.

Re: 66, big mess
with that river I call. I might muck if a spade hit, but I might still call that too. An ace or king and I muck. Either way, I'm not sure it's a leak vs. an unknown. If you lose, you lose and hopefully it helps out your metagame in some way.

Re: 66, big mess
With the bb calling here quite often and the raiser an unknown in CO, is this a threebet preflop? Maybe I'm too conservative. Postflop I play the same and call, although crying, especially if a spade hits on the river.

For a better understanding on why preflop is standard read Stoxtrader's new book. |

Re: 66, big mess
The site and limit might help but ultiimately when the pot gets to be 10bb or so and I'm hu against an unknown with a decent pair and the board stays low I just showdown and don't really worry about it.

Re: 66, big mess
We're almost always behind here. Against an average player, what capping hands are we still ahead of when he bets the river? AK, AQ, maybe KQs and maybe 33-55. The standard play with an A-high hand would be for him to check/call the river. Probably the same with a smaller pair. The range of hands remaining that we beat is almost nil. Of course not all unknowns play an average game, so the assumptions could be way off.
At the same time, the pot is offering us 11 to 1. Still, I think a call here is probably slightly -EV, but I'd probably do it anyway for peace of mind, information gained, meta game, etc. |

instabet=fold [/ QUOTE ] Against an unknown I agree that the instabet is the most reliable online tell coupled with pre-flop action. I think you can find a fold on the turn. As played I call the river and remember he remembers I called. |
