Jeep question
I have a 93 wrangler, with the 4 cylinder, my dad is the car guru, but I dont want to bother him, tonight. We are putting a 4 inch lift, 33' tires etc on it, and I want to upgrade to a 6 cylinder engine. I found a 258 that was just rebuilt on ebay, and was going to bid on it, but the 258's are carb, how tough is it to convert that engine to fuel injection? Is it as simple as buying a new manifold/computer?

Re: Jeep question
um, if you are confident enough to do an engine swap, i wouldn't think you would balk at a carb to FI conversion.
just remember all the sensors. mass air flow (MAF) sensor, O2 sensor, maybe some other crank position censors i'm not thinking of. you've already got the high pressure fuel pump and return lines, and the fuel pump relays and stuff. most everything like that is always tougher than you think, but if you're willing to put the time/money in, hahaha, anything is possible! sorry i don't have any first hand experience with this particular set-up though. |

Re: Jeep question
Im not doing the work, well, kind of, my dad is going to do it, and I run and get tools for him, while he tells me what he is doing etc. I called my brother and I actually completly forgot we have a 4.0 from a grand cherokee sitting in the garage, so Ill probably get that rebuilt and use it. thanks for the help though

Re: Jeep question
If you use the 258 you could leave it carbureted, you don't have to convert it.
