Default Fitness prop bet

In order to give me motivation to get in shape, I bet a friend of mine that I could beat him in a boxing match. He's laying me 3-2 odds, and I'm putting up 1K against his $1500. I'm 21, 5"9, 167 lbs and he's 20, 6"1 and 210 lbs. While this sounds daunting, he's also 210lbs of mostly walrus fat.

What I'm asking this forum is what do you think I should do to optimally train for this. I've been going to the gym daily for the past 6 weeks, alternating between cardio and weights. Our boxing match is in Mid-December. He hasn't done any training yet, and I doubt he will for a few months. Tips for a good diet/ exercises?

Feel free to discuss and taunt me about how I'm going to get pummeled.

honestly, ya, getting is in shape is going to help you, but actually learning how to box correctly is going to help you about 100 times more.

i think his size advantage is too much for you to overcome w/o some serious training...learn to box, take lessons at a local place and get some practice in before the match...

i definitely think you are taking the worst of it...

How many rounds? Obviously try to get some boxing training..then work on getting him to tire out (ala rocky vs Mr. T)

I'm starting to train at a boxing gym with daily lessons (for four months) in the first week of August. While his size advantage is big, I doubt that he'll go to the gym until a month or two beforehand. Given this attitude, I think I have an edge.

The fight will be 5 or 7 rounds, we haven't decided that yet. The longer the fight goes, the better off I am. He has no stamina and eats terribly.

Do you have a gym that will let you do the fight? Also three rounds should be the way to go. I do believe thats how its done in the Olympics. Boxing is demanding cardio vascular wise. I have tried slugging a bag for simulated rounds and frick its tough.

Two things, learn the strategy of boxing, and have some stamina. Being able to punch hard doesn't do that much, unless you can connect and maintain energy throughout the fight. If that doesn't work, bite his ear off, get a tattoo on your face, and declare bankruptcy.
